I have tried about every word processor on the market. A problem
is faced when using many of the word processors. If the word processor
is easy to use, it is not very powerful. If the word processor is
powerful, it is difficult to learn and use. There are few word
processors that are easy to learn and use and have power.
It is extremely redundant and time consuming to use a different
word processor for different word processing needs. I searched for a
word processor that is powerful and would serve both simple and complex
needs. The word processor I found that would meet all of my present and
future word processing needs was the WORD PERFECT word processor.
Learning to use WORD PERFECT was one of the worst experiences that
I have ever had on the micro computer. Some of the key definitions seem
to have little to do with any other word processor on the market. However,
I soon found the way to pick up the usage in an efficient manner.
Word perfect has a help key located on the F3 function key. If one
hits this key, then any key, or combination of keys, reveals the functions
the key (or keys) perform. Using the help instruction, I found about
every instruction that the WORD PERFECT software has defined in the
keys. Once the definitions were revealed the use of the word processor
becomes, in matter of fact, very eloquent.
To assist those having little experience with WORD PERFECT,
I have developed two help instructions to speed up the process of
learning to use the word processor. Two files were developed and
include the following:
README1 - listing of WORD PERFECT commands which include the
use of the F1-F10 keys and the ( CTRL, SHIFT, or ALT )
keys.
README2 - listing of WORD PERFECT commands which include the
use of any other key combinations available.
(NO F1-F10 KEYS INCLUDED!!!!!)
These two files can be printed off and taped on the wall behind
your micro to allow instant access when learning to use WORD PERFECT.
Even as crazy as some of the key definitions are, repetitive use seems
to create the automatic use of the keys after a while. I would caution
you to try out all the commands before using them in a production
environment. Some of the command can give consistent, though suprising
results.
